The C4 was the first generation of Corvette to not be designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, aka “The Father of Corvette”, who designed the first three generations
The C4 generation originally began in 1983, but none were sold to the public that year. Of the 43 prototypes built, 42 of them were destroyed in testing. One was purposely left intact and is currently on display at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky
